Two Clearwater Hills' subdivisions were platted in the 1950s and became one of the first gated communities in Arizona. Clearwater Hills is nestled against the Phoenix Mountain Preserve at its western boundary and a portion of its north boundary. The south, east and the north east community boundary abuts The Town of Paradise Valley.
